To the lunatic who found my blog by searching “overrated rick rubin”…

rick_rubin

…before you go typing any other crazy things into your Google search engine, or believing the morons who write for Blender, I thought I’d name just a few of the artist’s that Mr. Rubin has worked with.  And made classics with.

Let’s start at the beginning:

LL Cool J – Radio [1985]
Beastie Boys – Licensed to Ill [1986]
Run-DMC – Raising Hell [1986] & Tougher Than Leather [1988]
Slayer – Reign in Blood [1986]

Leap into the 90′s:

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Blood Sugar Sex Magik [1991], One Hot Minute [1995], & Californication [1999]
Tom Petty – Wildflowers [1994]
System of a Down – System of a Down [1998]

And, just in case there’s any contemplation of making the argument that The Rickster is now irrelevent, here’s a few he has produced since 2000:

Rage Against the Machine – Renegades [2000]
Johnny Cash – Unearthed [2003]
The Mars Volta – De-Loused in the Comatorium [2003]
Neil Diamond – 12 Songs [2005]
Metallica – Death Magnetic [2008]

Those are just some of his best.  He has also produced other album’s for the artist’s I’ve already mentioned, such as Slayer, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Diamond, System of a Down, and Tom Petty.  Word up to Danzig, too.

So, you see, to say Rick Rubin is overrated…it’s just a comment that holds no weight.
