Cormega has never been one to let past label troubles have a negative impact on his work ethic. He has been running his own imprint, Legal Hustle Records, since shortly after The Testament was shelved, and went on to release two albums, The Realness and The True Meaning (both of which were critically acclaimed), before he was able to get an official pressing of The Testament (which was also celebrated by critics) out to the public. And, after a few mixtape and collaborative projects, Mega is now focused on the release of his next official studio LP, Born & Raised.
From what I’ve gathered, the album is already done, and Mega is in the process of finding a label that satisfies his formal distribution needs. Born & Raised has yet to receive an official release date, but Cormega has hopes that the album will at least be in stores before the end of the first quarter of ’09.
If just the fact of Cormega releasing another studio album isn’t enough for you, check out the production line-up he hand-selected (and paid for out of pocket!) for Born & Raised: DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Large Professor, Easy Mo Bee, Havoc, DR Period, Lil Fame, Ayatollah, and Buckwild. Some crazy shit, right?
If this news doesn’t give someone besides myself a hip-hop mulligan, or at least initiate some sort of conversation, I don’t know what will. Who else do you know that exhales preciseness!?

favorite ‘Mega albums everyone???? I like True Meaning the best. The Realness is too dope though as well, but I think Mega comes off more grizzly and more seasoned. He says some pretty gully shit.
“My AK is my lawyer, when it’s on it represent for me.”
“Rapper slash drug dealer, slash I’ll bust my gun ni##a, slash ya face with a rug ni##a. What’s the meaning?”
Inside the True Meaning’s CD jacket it says Ayatollah + Cormega collarboration album and true meaning part II coming soon…that was 2002.
i like all three of his albums the same, probably. if i had to pick one though, it would be the realness — that intro, “dramatic entrance,” is too nice.
ahh, but i don’t know…the true meaning (“verbal graffiti”!!!) is my shit….and the testament (“dead man walking”) is fire too.
“my pen is sick like a heroin addict, whatever mega spit, i exhale preciseness, drug-dealin ghetto shit” may be may favorite mega lines ever, though. i think that feature on mobb deep’s murda musik steals the whole album.
mega is so nice. honestly, i bet born & raised will trump all his other releases. look at those producers! you know mega’s gonna lace that shit!
That intro and verbal graffiti are so nice. Plus who can forget his verse on “Three” on HNIC,
.
“I’m on the bench high eatin’ chicken wings and french fries, a crack-head fuck spent his last bucks on six dimes”
And that murda muzik shit is pretty much what sold me on mega forever. That and a song with lil wayne on the first violator album, “who can ya trust”
Mega gets nice. 10 years ago who would’ve thought that Mega would be the greatest rapper not named G Rap to come from the QB. Nas made a career out of pretending and wishing he was Mega, and Mega owned him when they beefed. That verse on “Three” is so nice. How many times has this dude out-shined P on a track? How nice are Mega’s freestyles? Remember the one on that Tony Touch disc where he ended it like “if you think it ain’t real check me on my next re-up, biaaccchh”
^^^word.
haha word indeed. i forgot about that shit.
Isn’t KGR from Corona? Anyways Mega is easily the best from QB and his Nas disses are nice too.
“I am nightmare to street dreamin…Talk about street dreams rockin a pink ass suit…Last crack you n!##az sold was ya ass. “
yeah, corona is a part of queens.
But not Queens Bridge
that is correct. queensbridge is also a part of queens.
I know u jackass my point was about Face’s post when he said “10 years ago who would’ve thought that Mega would be the greatest rapper not named G Rap to come from the QB”
Sorry fro, the QB area. I always considered CNN to be from QB too but technically it’s Lefrak. We’re talking about like a 2 or 3 mile area here. the area near the bridges, hence Queensbride….I am Queens Blvd.
You guys are jerks. Hey remember when we saw Mega and he didn’t spit any rhymes? I think if he dii would have lost my mind because that Beatnuts shit was so dope, even with lupo’s throwing the lights on in the middle of their set. I hate lupo’s.
Actually Capone is from QB and Nore is from Lefrek, so thats why they are associated with QB.
Actually that show was at the old Lupo’s which got nice and they didn’t turn the lights on in the middle of their set the Beatnuts just bounced off the stage after they asked the crowd what they wanted to hear and 90% of the crowd said “Watch Out Now.” So they played that song and ran to the bus.
that was one of the shortest sets i’ve ever seen. still dope though. i cant stand non phixion anymore.
Yeah I’ve never liked Non-Phixion, that was my first taste of them. White dudes droppin N bombs always rubs me the wrong way. Fro you should change your name to semantics-o’doyle. The fucking point was Queens. We get it. The sub-burroughs were mixed up. I wrote “please” instead of “plead” in another comment thread, where were you on that one? Lee wrote i’ve instead of I’ve. What the fuck Lee get with it, capitalize that shit. I digress.
And to be honest it was 97% percent watch out now and 3% Duck Season (I’m assuming 100 people and us 3 were the ones yelling for Duck Season)
I’m not correcting spelling or grammar, so you rant doesn’t make any sense. All I pointed out was that KGR is not from QB, which is why Cormega is easily the best emcee to come out of there. If KGR was from QB it would be a different story.
