My vice other than booze, coffee, and meth… amazon.com

One of the few perks of working retail cell phone sales is (no, not nuddie mms day… you’d be surprised of the lack of shame fat fucks have. I digest.) winning sales contests here and there. Free shit gets nice. I’ve won some phones here and there and 2009 brought a gift certificate to Royal Caribbean. 2010, however, got me some points that I could redeem for a gang of shotty merchandise or gift cards from some hand picked retailers that probably use my location in their sales incentive games. Naturally I picked amazon.com since Newbury Comics wasn’t one of the four retail stores chosen, plus I’d have to use up that cruise gift certificate and take a Columbus-style trip ’round the Americas to get to the closest one.

The majority of my gift card went towards a video game for my cousin’s son back home. Lego Indiana Jones already in the shopping cart, I went all out on my wish list of 300+ and just started adding every $.01 album I had on there. After shipping costs, my total ended up dipping $25 over my gift card balance and into my debit card, but I think it will be worth it. Peep my jerk off CD list I ended up with :

Terror Firma – by Reavers
Hello Nasty – by Beastie Boys
Ill Communication – by Beastie Boys
The Difference – compilation
Focused Daily – by Defari
Jetlag – by DJ Design
Heavy Mental – by Killah Priest
State of the Arts – by Afu-Ra
Whatcha Gonna Do – by Jayo Felony
Don Cartagena – by Fat Joe
Desire – by Pharoahe Monch

None of these will be replacing anyone on my top 5 or top 10 best album list, but all were needed for my collection. Defari, Fat Joe, the Beasties and Killiah Priest have all been heard by yours truly many times and had one or two in my possession at one time or another, only to have them stolen or lost throughout the years. Stay tuned for my post-listening write-up on how well I ultimately did with this haul.

  1. one by one…

i hope you post some vordul mega from that reavers joint.

i need to buy all of the beastie albums over again.

the difference, i think, is a project from domingo. if so, should be pretty dece.

focused daily is a personal classic and defari’s best work.

you bought dj designs album just for that guilty track, didn’t you?

can’t believe you didn’t own heavy mental until meow! so dope.

afu gets pretty nice. especially on the first two jeru lp’s.

you will be greatly disappointed by that jayo album.

that was pretty much joe’s last good album. that preem song on there is dope.

i haven’t heard desire in forever. maybe i’ll break it out sometime this week.

    blate.

  2. that is the only good joe album in my opinion. but its a classic. defari and heavy mental couldn’t be more different but both should’ve been owned by me years ago. Im only buying that Jayo for one song and you right about that dj jetleg. perhaps it’ll have some gems on there.

  3. terror firma sacks. production is deplorable. Karniege is super dope as always. As is Vordul. Those two should put out an album. Since they’re both nicer than vast…vastly. (but yes I love vast nonetheless) ill communication was actually licensed to ill…douche bag fucked up. I thought it was my fault at first but upon re-reading my post… their fault. Jayo Felony was extremely disappointing. Desire is real dope. Should have bought that when it came out. Heavy Mental I already knew was kill. Don Cartagena is under rated in my book. Pun kills it. As does Joe.

  4. thats as far as I’ve gotten.. b-t-dubz

  5. u should post your favorite vordul track off that s. i’d like to hear something else by him. havoks will be bumped once i get through my rsd stack.
