I’m feeling a bit self-conscious using this title again (for reasons I don’t have time to elaborate on just yet), but, hey, Jesus forgives all, right?
Anyway, it’s that time of year. April. The sun warms the earth a little more, over-priced summer concerts are announced, and I fiend like a crack-head to abuse my debit card’s spending limit whilst celebrating Record Store Day.
Just about every music store in the world that isn’t FYE plans to participate in this glorious holiday, and, if you’re any type of music fan, you should get your stink-ass out of the house, spend your week’s food-shopping money on some new (and used) CD’s and vinyl, and live off top ramen and tap water until your next paycheck comes through.
Per usual, I’m planning to buy serious amounts of ill shit. (And scoop-up anything free that Newbury Comics and The Time Capsule want to give me.)
Check out the official Record Store Day website for all the details on exclusive RSD releases and participating stores.

Rhode Islander’s, I hope to see you there! Keep an eye out for me! I’ll be the guy…
- …in the North Attleboro Newbury Comics cringing after every spoken word from the obnoxious staff
- …who looks like he’s looting the Newbury on Route 2
- …digging into the hip-hop section at The Time Capsule, trying to find any local treasures I may have missed throughout the years
And be sure to stop back here to discuss all of your fine purchases!

yes fro i’ve been here for 6 months and havent checked for record stores. the ones near me sell straight up records. newbury is one of a kind.
I didnt know, I figured you spent most of your spare time in bath houses eating “mayo” sandwiches.
i’m going to finally buy a turntable so verbal and i can listen to mayer hawthorne and he can buy some vinyl on rsd.
i never got around to buying that heart-sharped 7”. soon enough.
we did. we’re gonna hang it in our room as aht. or art.
yeah, i knew u guys bought that s. u should just rock it around your neck like mayer does in the video.
btw, anyone actually watch the above video?
Make sure you also check out “Luke’s” it is truly one of the last “real RECORD stores” still in our immediate area.
thanks for stopping by, swerve…
i’ve shopped at luke’s many of times before. some good finds, too.
if anybody is interested in luke’s on RSD, they’re in the middle of their 30.5 year anniversary (ends sunday) and running a pretty decent sale.
i went to time capsule today, rather than spend anymore time in cranston tomorrow. bought a couple cd’s and some 12″s. and alice cooper’s love it to death lp for $1 (it’s in terrible shape, but whatever).
luke’s may be in my future.
copped one 7″ (that new rolling stones joint) and twenty cd’s. one of which i already need to return.
