I get a ton of promo every week and most of it is the scum of the earth. Close to everything gets deleted – not only from the music being wack as fuck, but also because I know it’ll be showing up all over every half-assed blog on the web, and I try my hardest not to be associated with dog-shit websites.
However, the one email I do read each time it arrives is the One-Handed Music newsletter. They’re a smaller label (although they have ties to Stones Throw) that I haven’t let out of my site since discovering Paul White a couple of years back. The roster hasn’t necessarily expanded so much as it has blossomed with fantastic and unique material (a lot of which is free) from their five or six artists.
Long story short: The newsletter is always well-written, and it’s filled with information pertaining to the current and/or upcoming music from the OHM artists. You should go sign up for it, because there was honestly so much good stuff featured in this past email that I could have made a marathon post about it. And I can’t do that now. Because I have to wake up in four hours to go to work. And I want to be somewhat rested for the unruly amount of corned beef I’m going to eat tomorrow.
