Gambling is something I love. And, even though I can say, without a doubt, I’d have thousands of extra dollars in my bank account if it wasn’t for my undying quest for a big payday, I’d like to clarify that I’ve yet to become a gambling degenerate of Charlie Hustle status. Reason being: I can’t allow any foolishness like binges in bankruptcy to compromise my pristine image, and shart all over my chances of being inducted into the Blogging Hall Of Fame. That is, if I ever retire from The Echo Chamber Blog and become eligible for said accomplishment.
I mention the above by way of Sage Francis providing myself — and the millions of other money hungry music geeks like me — a chance to win $500 to further support the habit. (Or to use towards some straight-up dumb shit like feeding your family, paying for music, and/or the electric bill.)
Best of all, Sage’s Godcast bet (rules listed below) won’t cost you a single thing. That is, besides the tiny bit of sanity you’ll be donating with your effort to succeed in what seems to be a nearly impossible mission. Personally, I’ve already given up, but the fact that Sage is betting so strongly against everyone (that isn’t B. Dolan) may inspire some die-hard to identify all that is asked prior to their fourteen sleepless nights come to an end.
RULES, GUIDELINES & SUGGESTIONS:
*There are 2 clips that feature old school hip-hop artists contained in this mix. You must name the artist(s) and tell me where the sample is from.
*There are at least 3 clips that were taken from semi-popular internet videos or audio out-takes. Name 3 and provide links.
*At least 11 of the songs have been commercially released. Name the song and artist for 10 of them. Make sure you name the artist whose album the song was taken from.
*5 songs featured in this mix are demos. You don’t have to name the title of the songs but you must name the artist for 4 of them.
*Name 1 movie from which an audio clip is used in this mix.
*There are 3 extensive spoken word clips. All you have to do is name the person speaking in these clips (not all of them are poems.)
*This mix features some clips that I took out of my personal cassette tape archives but as it would be impossible for people to pinpoint where that material is from I am not considering that material for this contest.
*None of the artist or song titles submitted for one category can be re-used in another category.
Now get to work. Give the Godcast a listen right here…
…or, if for some awful reason you decide to leave TECB and go elsewhere, the free download to Godcast is available by clicking the arrow on the SoundCloud audio player.
The best of luck to you all. Just remember to get your answers submitted to email@example.com by Wednesday, May 25.
