The flute, and the over all feel of this beat, is incredibly uplifting. And of course Brother Ali’s verse to finish off the song, much like every one of his other verses, also makes you feel good. Classified does both his verses rhyming with one sound which, if you’ve ever tried to rhyme, even if it’s just writing a poem in sixth grade, is incredibly hard to do. I was put on to Classified by the Indie Feed podcasts with “That Ain’t Classy” which also features a beat that pumps you up. Classified’s got the (dare I say it with its original meaning) swagger and hunger that is a pleasure to listen to from artists.
The Canadian native’s latest album Handshakes and Middle Fingers has been out since March of this year and has had it’s fair share of critical acclaim. Classified has been making music forever as this is his twelfth (!) studio release and even reached platinum status on his 2010 single “Oh, Canada.”
