Living Legends – “Trojan Horse” [VIDEO]

I posted this song back in March, along with the free album than came with the download. Now the California-bred crew has released some visuals to accompany the fierceness. The beat is on some mid 90′s club anthem shit, but Eligh did his thing to make it sound as underground as the Living Legends themselves. As dope as this track is though, it would be truly incredible if it weren’t for that high-pitched, Alvin and the Chipmunk-sounding voice used to introduce everyone. Regardless, it’s probably my favorite single of 2012. The album that comes along with the download of “Trojan Horse” is pretty much a best-of album, a best-of “mix” as the group calls it.

If anyone is on The Grouch’s newsletter/e-mail list then you would have seen his letter to fans and supporters explaining the group’s hiatus. He had some powerful words, but in pure Grouch fashion, he stays extremely positive throughout the letter and has high hopes for the future. He does have some choice, yet ambiguous words as read below:

I will not tolerate being slandered publicly by someone I consider a brother. Therefore, rather than leave listeners and the group wondering why we don’t continually work together, I am choosing to define my stance to bring some closure to an awesome chapter in my life.

I’m not sure who he’s referring to, and to be completely honest, I don’t really care. The politics and TMZ-material I’ll leave for HipHopDx and other rags. I do hope for an amicable resolution from here-on-out and maybe a reunion show in 10 years. But other than that, fans should temper expectations and let them do their solo endeavors. In the meantime enjoy this track, video, and best-of mix, because there won’t be another group quite like the Living Legends ever.

  1. This song is McNasty. Eligh is too good. I need to break out the G&E album I have. Do you have the first one?

Agreed about Alvin. However, I can tolerate it as long as it’s not incorporated into the beat.

  2. Yeah I have the G&E album. Eligh’s Grey Crow is dope. Living Legends are pretty awesome.

  3. There are two G&E’s. You have both? I only have the newest one. I need to get me some Eligh solo and maybe some more LL.

  4. i forgot about their early one, No More Greener Gases, I got the one you have. I love Aesop’s verse in this song; “the original Aesop no white face…” or something to that affect.
