Duckdown Records has been scooping up some big name artists over the last few years. They used to be the homegrown type of label, bringing up artists from their early stages and growing pains. Now-a-days we’ve seen B-Real, DJ Revolution, KRS-One and P. Monch, to name a few, don the Duckdown running man logo on their releases. Now it’s Living Legend mainstay Murs and Fresno’s Fashawn teaming up for the Manhattan based label.
Their collab album, This Generation, due out this September, is produced entirely by Beatnick & K-Salaam. Here’s the lead single, “Slash Gordan” :
This joint is a refreshing take on 2-MC tracks. Fash and Murs go 2-x-2 throughout the whole song, while the beat also switches up from a calypso sounding sample to some heavy rock-infused guitars. Sort of mirrors the difference between Fash’s voice and Murs’. I dig it.
