Do you know how many “beat tape” submissions we get? Let me rephrase that question. Do you know how many deleted emails will fit into a gmail trash can before self-destruction? The number is sickeningly sky-high, and ninety-nine-percent of them fucking suck.
But not Buddy Peace. He didn’t submit Hot Pudding, his honest to goodness beat tape (actual cassette tape with beats on it), but rather possess enough talent as a producer, not to mention ties to RI’s Strange Famous Records, for me to stalk his every move on various social networks and relay news of his new music here on TECB.
This one came across my Twitter feed last week:
It’s “Curb Appeal,” a cut found on the b-side of Buddy’s tape that can now be purchased via Big Cartel, complete with a digital download of the entire project from the London-based beat-maker. Enjoy this little sampling, and get at those tapes while they’re hot. If you’re not the money-spending type, Buddy’s reworking of classic Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf records might be more your steez. You cheap intangible-loving bastards.
