Hy-Definition (K.Wiz & SoulChef) — The Voices [FREE EP]

This has held a spot in my inbox for a bit now. I’ve been meaning to get to a post after a complete listens, but time has been sparse. In any regard, I have sampled a couple of the cuts, and they’re some of the best I’ve heard in a while. I’ve known about SoulChef for a little over a year — and you Rhode Islander’s should, too, as one of our (RI’s) premiere emcees, Need Not Worry, will be doing an EP with the guy; supposedly in the works now.

K.Wiz, though, I hadn’t heard of until I received this email. He has a similar flow and vocal tone to that of AZ, at least in my opinion, and I’m really looking forward to getting a couple of free minutes on the computer at home to finally get this on my iTunes.

Download from the link in the player in let us know how you’re feeling my latest discovery.

*UPDATE*

I feel like I sold this project short yesterday when I made this post. Although I said it was some of the best work I’ve heard in a while, I was in a rush and I didn’t really include any details behind the concept of the EP, which happens to be a really fresh one. It’s a dedication of sorts to all of the artists seen on the artwork — Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye,  Michael Jackson, Selena, and David Ruffin. SoulChef uses samples from the aforementioned artists in each of his productions, giving the EP a rather unique (<—geek-boy AZ reference) and genuine feel. It’s definitely worth your time. I’m listening now. At work. (Don’t tell anybody.)
