Meta P — “Kill Swag” featuring Celph Titled [VIDEO]

If you haven’t heard about Meta P’s Kill Swag movement by now, it’s about time you start paying attention. For a dose of background on the Rhode Island artist you can check my ABC’s of TECB (see: “K”), where I featured Meta and Kill Swag as one of 2012′s top highlights in music, but, aside from that, this is almost everything you need to know — my dude HATES swag.

The video you see above is the anthem for Kill Swag, and who better to recruit for swag assassination than the Landmine Lieutenant and Demigodz strong-arm, Celph Titled. The track is produced by Knuckle-Up Productions and video animated by recent RISD graduate Tyler DiBiaso. In spirit of the much-anticipated release, I caught up with Meta for some brief word association. This is how things went:

TECB: Kill Swag.

META P: Smack your ear snares. Forties of OE. Ciphers on the porch. MPC bass. Dirty underground clubs. Music that stays in the streets. Commercial rape.

TECB: Celph Titled.

META P: Monster. Rubix Cuban. Top 5 dead or alive. Underground legend. DEMIGODZ. Lyrical giant.

TECB: Degrassi.

META P: Teen wave. Texting. Lollipops and mix CDs with glitter. Crying over everything. Gays in wheel chairs.

TECB: Die Hard.

META P: Hasn’t been good since the second one. It died hard with Justin Long. A computer virus? I wish I could find the writer whose idea that was and give the writer aids.

TECB: 8th Wundah.

META P: Alien producer. Astrology expert. Outside the box. Pure talent. Gritty samples. Insomniac beat maker.

TECB: Pink Friday re-re-release.

META P: Throw up dried and stinking in the summer heat. Dirty glitter sneakers. Babies in the trash. Rat hair. XXXXXL leopard thongs. Transsexual. Cancer.

TECB: 2013.

META P: Mine.

Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the video, or anything Meta x Kill Swag-related. You can also grab the MP3 for free download right here through TECB. (Download here.) And be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming “Kill Swag” remix, produced by the talented 8th, mentioned above.

Demigodz – “Dead in the Middle” [VIDEO]

New video from the Demigodz, this track featuring Ryu, Celph Titled and Apathy. Ap also produced this track which includes one of Big Pun’s most famous lines on loop. I’ve never been a fan of Ryu but this is easily the toughest verses he’s ever laid down. That said I’ve only heard him on Celph’s records and AOTP joints. And once when a co-worker brought me to a sales meeting and he had some sort of Styles of Beyond album cranked to 11. I wasn’t pleased that day. In any event, this video sparks some chatter and buzz over the Demigodz forthcoming album, Killmatic. Available for preorder here if you’re down.

“Stop What Ya Doin” Apathy f/ Celph Titled (prod. by DJ Premier) VIDEO

Something about grown men picking on kids makes me laugh uncontrollably.

A month ago to the day, Chris posted this track off of Apathy’s Honkey Kong and here is the video rendition. Honkey Kong has all the makings of something good, as the tracks we’ve posted here at TECB have had production by Da Beatminerz and DJ Premier.

Anyone out there in the land of cyber space want to share their thoughts on this album? Kick us some comments, ya herbs.

Apathy x DJ Premier x Celph Titled – “Stop What Ya’ Doin’”

I was told about this track weeks before it leaked — specifically, the Digital Underground sample — and I’ve been heavily anticipating it like the gigantic hip-hop geek that I am.  Well, it’s here now and it should go without saying, especially after the last time Ap blessed a Premier beat, that this “Stop What Ya’ Doin’” joint is harder than Humpty Hump getting busy in Burger King’s bathroom.

And download here.

Be sure to catch Apathy — along with locals Big Rush, Zumo Kollie, Meta P, Sterby Rock and Sense One — live at The Met in Pawtucket on Friday, August 26th: Doors @ 9PM and tickets are $14 at the door.

On a side note concerning this song… Preem sounds like Tone Loc after a pack of menthols and a domestic dispute.

Block McCloud f/ Celph Titled & R.A. the Rugged Man “Crazy Man”

*Disclaimer* Don’t watch this video if you have an averse reaction to clowns. Do watch this video if you like Celph Titled and or R.A. the Rugged Man.

Block McCloud kind of ruined Sean Price’s Jesus Price with the track “Mess U Made.” Then there was a time where he was featured on everyone’s album on tracks that didn’t feature the aforementioned Ruck or someone from Little Brother. Block now has his own album out, this of the EP variety, entitled Crazy Man EP available on iTunes now.
