Detroit mainstay House Shoes’ album Let It Go dropped today, and to celebrate he released this video for “Time.” He enlists fellow Die-troit City brethren Big Tone for this joint and the remainder of the album is also filled with a who’s-who of indie rap artists. Danny Brown, MED, Oh No, Alchemist, Roc Marciano, Nottz, Guilty Simpson, Quelle Chris, Chali 2na and more fill the album out, which you can grab up at all of the major digi-outlets. Look for the deluxe version which includes the instrumentals.
Shoes said last night after his album release party that 50 limited edition instrumental tapes will be released this summer as well. So far everything I’ve heard from Let It Go has been fresh, let us know what you think.
Here’s the video for “Black & Brown” off of Black Milk and Danny Brown’s EP of the same name. If you recognize the track it’s because it was also on Black Milk’s Album of the Year from last fall and it was one of my favorites. The duo’s EP is out and ready for purchase at iTunes and Amazon and other online media outlets. I was able to catch a sneak peek of Black & Brown last week when Black Milk had it available for streaming on his website. I was really impressed by it. Black Milk is arguably the best out there at the game of MCing whilst producing. Blueprint and Black are probably 1 and 1 (a) for me in my opinion.
This particular track and most of Album of the Year and all of Black & Brown are breaths of fresh air in a supposed state of stale hip-hop. I think folks who say hip-hop is stale are looking in the wrong areas. Look no further.
