A few of my friends have been raving about this. But I’m having trouble figuring out exactly what type of “shit” it is. Regardless, it’s a Premo beat. So there you have it.
Dutch is composed of Philly natives Liz Fullerton, on the vocal tip, and Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind (of Jedi Mind Tricks fame) behind the boards. A Bright Cold Day is their first project together, but the positive press and endless amount of (very predictable) Portishead comparisons may inspire the group to consider future work together.
I had been anticipating this release since I first heard Stoupe was planing to work with someone new. Someone who doesn’t say essentially the same thing throughout every verse since 2001. (You overstandin’ me, daddy?) Semi-subliminals aside, I was curious to see how Stoupe would adapt to having a female sing over an entire album of his typically (Decalogue sucked at it big time) solid soundscapes.
