Substantial — “Check My Resume” prod. by Oddisee

You know what I do on vacation days? Blog. That’s how cool I be.

This track is from Substantial with the production help of Oddisee, the sure-shot producer from the Diamond District crew. It’s the lead single from Substantial’s upcoming MMG debut, Home Is Where The Art Is (fresh title, yeah?), named “Check My Resume.” Creek it:

…Reminds me of how much I need to rewrite my resume. I wish I knew how to use this Mac. Computer illiteracy aside, get the download for freezy right here and enjoy. The album drops in full on September 4th.

Oddisee — “Way In, Way Out”

Oddisee has easily become one of my favorite artists in hip-hop. He’s sick with the soundscapes and on point with the rhymes. The Mello Music Group (Odd’s label) roster is no joke either. As an advocate of buying music, I feel like somewhat of a fraud for not already owning a physical copy of the man’s People Hear What They See, but the free download of “Way In, Way Out,” along with this kick ass acoustic version of “You Know Who You Are,” will have to suffice until I step my funds up.

Check “Way In, Way Out” right here:

And get that download of the single. Or the entire LP.

New Video: Oddisee x Toine – “Different Now”

Oddisee.  Still in the fast lane speeding.  He is easily one of my favorite artists out right now.

I fell behind in ’09…

Unfortunately, yes I did.  I planned to write quarterly reviews of all the music I had been listening to throughout the year, but I ended up accumulating so many albums that I didn’t even have a chance to listen to them all until the new year had passed.  However, an ass-load of what I did hear was fantastic.  Since I’ve been procrastinating so much on making a post like this, I’m going to try to bang it out as quick as possible.  So, while I may not be thorough in developing some (or any) of my opinions on the releases of 2009, I figure this is better than nothing.  Here goes…

Marco Polo on the remix

Usually I don’t mess around with material that is certain to be popping-up all over the web, but this Marco Polo remix of Diamond District’s “Who I Be” is nice…

The remix from Marco is nice, yes; but the Oddisee-produced original (which you can download for free along with the rest of In The Ruff) is also quite the ear-pleaser.  The kid’s beats are grimier than your grandfather’s grundle.  Peace.
