“Playing Jenga with real buildings”? Toki Wright is beastly. If you haven’t heard of the Rhymesayers alum, you’re snoozing and drooling on yourself and looking foolish. 2009′s A Different Mirror gets nice, and, with this little verse right here over a Lord Finesse production, the dude easily smashes on every submission I’ve received so far in ’13.

This is how I make a return to blogging and write a number of posts lacking in substance for the sake of catching-up with what I’ve let fall by the wayside.
If you’re looking for all of the particulars and a free mp3 to download, jump your stink ass into the DeLorean, hit 88 miles per hour, and set the clock for April 13, 2012.

The one year anniversary of Adventures in Counter-Culture just passed, as did news that ‘Print releasing a book that chronicles the making of the album. It’s been said, many times on our world-famous site here, that Chris and I hold this album in a real high regard. I’m always down to post anything new related to that album, or really anything by Blueprint in general, just so more people can check it out and witness how good it is.
Enjoy the video and peep my words, words that’ll get you locked up (locked up) in 73rd. And whoever can guess whose lyric that is, I’ll send you a tweet in the mail.

I figure no better reason to get off of the sick fort that is my couch than to make my triumphant return the Veronica Cho Chamber. My inbox is filled, I’ve marked some tweets that I’ve need to revisit, and my editor-in-chief has publicly called for my man hood since being stricken with this bird-swine-flu I’ve contracted. The one project I was pissed I hadn’t been able to check out and promote was Brother Ali’s free EP, The Bite Marked Heart.
I completely slept through Valentine’s Day, but fortunately for me I have a life partner that feels the same way when it comes to that greeting card company created holiday. Total number of fucks given in my household regarding Valentine’s Day = zero. That being said, when I learned The Street Preacher was releasing a love themed project, I knew it would be extremely dope. And once I finally worked up the wherewithal to rise off the couch, listening to this album put me in a better mood. This is the video for “Shine On” off of the EP.
You Can grab your own copy for free (immediate) download here. And don’t worry I only coughed 1,300 times while typing these 200 words.

New track off of I Self Divine’s latest release, The Upliftment Struggle. This “mixtape” is available for free download here or if you want to try it out for size and stream it first, head over to the man’s Soundcloud page. Production for “Up Aboves” is courtesy of Benzilla and Mike Swoop. My first taste of both Benzilla and I Self Divine was off of Bk-One and Benzilla’s Radio Do Canibal, which is one of my favorite compilation albums ever. The Rhymesayers camp is giving away The Upliftment Struggle in preparation for I Self Divine’s The Sounds of Low Class America, which will be out this May.
It’s a cool, dreary day in Long Beach, California today, and this track fits perfectly into the vibe the weather is giving off. I hope everyone out there is having a good Tuesday and shit.
