“Playing Jenga with real buildings”? Toki Wright is beastly. If you haven’t heard of the Rhymesayers alum, you’re snoozing and drooling on yourself and looking foolish. 2009′s A Different Mirror gets nice, and, with this little verse right here over a Lord Finesse production, the dude easily smashes on every submission I’ve received so far in ’13.
I usually leave all of the music with a social and/or political agenda to Verbal Spacey. Which by default, I believe, classifies me as an apathetic invalid or something of the sort.
I’m cool with that. But homeboy is busy now that he’s back to school, working some kind of job, and living the a proud vegan lifestyle, so I wanted to get the video to our page before it was all but forgotten about. Enjoy it.
Mourning in America hits stores on the 18th via Rhymesayers. Jake One on the beats.
Remember when I gave you multiple reasons to buy Ev’s new album? Probably not, but that’s the advantage of dropping links like Nick Manning drops loads.
That said, this is the latest off of Cats & Dogs — “The Liner Notes.” It’s a great song, and the title allows me to tell this little story…
I have a family that enjoys music. Some of the fam still buys physical copies, and, even more so, cherishes the old formats still in their possession. When I asked an unnamed family member the difference of LP’s to MP3′s, the response I received was this:
“You can’t roll a doobie on an MP3.”
Yup. You certainly cannot. God bless my family. And God bless music and all of its physical formats.
Liner notes for life. Fuck digital. Fuck you if you don’t agree. (A little harsh, but I’m cool with that. Come at me, bro hondo!)
This is how I make a return to blogging and write a number of posts lacking in substance for the sake of catching-up with what I’ve let fall by the wayside.
If you’re looking for all of the particulars and a free mp3 to download, jump your stink ass into the DeLorean, hit 88 miles per hour, and set the clock for April 13, 2012.
