TECB INTERVIEW: Getting Grimy with RI’s Milez Grimez

If you live in Rhode Island, you know the name. The rest of the world will be catching on soon enough. Milez Grimez. The talented, hard-nosed emcee has been putting in work locally for a decade-plus, and lately he’s been starting to branch out by being noticed, co-signed, and featured by some of hip-hop’s most respected. I was able to sit down with Milez to ask him a few questions concerning his come-up, the music he’s making, and what he has planned for the future.

The full interview can be read after the cut. Enjoy…

When notepads get left on stoves.

A little over a month ago I dug around my music collection for some older local stuff that I could rep on TECB.  I came across the K-Nux (nka Milez Grimez) “Standing In Line” CD-R along with another disc consisting of about ten other tracks that, chances are, most cats haven’t heard unless you were friends with the kid.  I only know the name to one of the tracks (“Takin’ Over”), and, truth be told, I’m not certain if some of them even had titles at the time Milez had given them to me.  In fact, according to him, the track I chose to upload below was never even finished.  The songs completion is irrelevant, though.  Finished or not, it’s still fresh.  Play it…

The song came from around ’03, when Milez was doing a lot of recording with the now defunct Swat Team.  If I had to guess who was on the production, I’d say DJ Head Honcho, but I could be wrong.  Maybe Milez will pay us another visit and clarify any or all of my vagueness throughout this post.
